Post-Military Service

For individuals who are separating or retiring from military service and seeking treatment, coverage, and/or disability benefits for hearing loss or tinnitus, there are resources available to assist in navigating the VA system.

Transition from the DoD to the VA

The VA has personnel stationed at major military hospitals to help Service members transition from military to civilian life. Service members who have questions about VA benefits or need assistance in filing VA claims or accessing services, can contact the nearest VA office or call 1-800-827-1000.

In addition, many service organizations also offer assistance to Veterans. These organizations have service officers located at VA facilities and Veteran centers.

eBenefits

The eBenefits portal provides Service members, Veterans, military families, and caregivers with self-service access to benefit applications, benefit information, and personnel files and records.

The portal provides two main services:

  • A personalized workspace called My Dashboard that provides quick access to eBenefits tools, and
  • A catalog of links to other sites that provide information about military and Veteran benefits

inTransition Program

Service members and Veterans can receive assistance from inTransition if they’re receiving mental health treatment and are making transitions from military service or to new locations or healthcare systems. The program provides access to transitional support, advice, and motivational and healthy lifestyle assistance from qualified coaches through toll-free telephone support at 1-800-424-7877.
