Mental Health for Active Duty Service Members, Older Adults, and Families

For active duty service members and veterans, mental health struggles may impact health, relationships, and daily life. Financial strain, stress, substance abuse and other life issues can lead to depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues. Poor mental health can increase the risk for many types of physical health problems, particularly in older adults. Feeling depressed is not a common part of aging. Symptoms of mental health conditions in older adults are often mistaken for symptoms of aging, which can leave mental health conditions untreated.
